Pricing & Costs
How much does a 40×60 shop cost?▼
A complete 40×60 post frame kit starts at approximately $79,200 CAD ($33/sqft). For a full turnkey build including concrete and erection by our crew, expect $111,000–$140,000 CAD depending on frame type, door configuration, and site conditions. Pricing is always in Canadian dollars. Read the full cost breakdown →
What's included in the kit price?▼
Complete kits include engineered trusses at 4' on center, 2×6 walls at 24" on center, 28-gauge coloured metal roofing and siding, a full trim package, R22 wall insulation, R50 ceiling insulation, vapour barrier, interior metal liner, one walk-in door, two windows, and stamped engineered drawings. Shell kits include everything except insulation and liner. See the full kit vs. full build breakdown →
Do you price in Canadian or US dollars?▼
Always Canadian dollars. Unlike US-based lead generation sites, our quotes are in CAD and reflect actual prairie material and labour costs. No currency conversion surprises.
Is insulation included in the kit?▼
Yes. Our complete kit packages always include R22 wall insulation, R50 ceiling insulation, vapour barrier, and interior metal liner. If you don't need insulation (cold storage, for example), we offer shell kits at a lower price that include everything except the insulation and liner.
How much does a barndominium cost?▼
A typical barndominium shell (concrete, structure, cladding, insulation, doors, and windows) runs $120,000–$200,000+ CAD depending on size and frame type. Interior finishing on the living side adds $80–$150+/sqft depending on finish level. A realistic all-in budget for a finished barndominium is $250,000–$450,000 CAD. Read the full barndo cost guide →
Frame Types & Building Options
What frame types do you offer?▼
We build in all four frame types: Stud Frame (best for heated, finished shops), Post Frame (cost-effective with great clear span), OSBlock (premium insulated system for commercial use), and Steel Frame (maximum clear span for commercial/industrial). Read the full 4-type comparison →
Which frame type should I choose?▼
It depends on your use case. If you're heating the shop and working in it year-round, stud frame is the most practical choice. If it's unheated storage or a farm building, post frame saves money. For commercial-grade durability, OSBlock and steel frame are worth the investment. We can recommend the right type based on your specific project — just tell us what you're building and how you'll use it.
What sizes do you offer?▼
We offer 19+ standard sizes ranging from 30×30 (900 sqft) up to 80×120 (9,600 sqft). The most popular sizes are 40×60, 50×80, and 60×100. Custom sizes are also available on request. Browse all sizes and pricing →
Can I just buy the kit and build it myself?▼
Absolutely. Kit-only is one of our three service options. You get all materials, engineered trusses, metal cladding, hardware, and stamped structural drawings shipped to your site. You arrange your own concrete and erection crew, or build it yourself if you have the experience and equipment.
Concrete & Foundation
Do you pour the concrete yourselves?▼
Yes — our concrete crew is in-house. We don't subcontract concrete work. Our crew handles site prep, gravel base, formwork, rebar, anchor bolts, the pour, and finishing. The same company is accountable for both the slab and the building. Read why your concrete pad matters →
Can I get just the concrete slab without the building?▼
Yes. We offer concrete-only service. If you already have a kit or an erection crew but need a proper slab, our crew will handle the full concrete scope — same quality, same standards as our full builds.
Do you offer in-floor heat?▼
We can rough in PEX tubing for in-floor heat during the concrete pour. This needs to happen at pour time — it can't be added after. Your HVAC contractor then connects the system to a boiler. It's the best heating upgrade you can make for a prairie shop.
Process & Timelines
How long does a full build take?▼
A typical 40×60 full build takes 3–5 weeks on site — about a week for concrete (plus cure time), then 2–3 weeks for structure erection. Larger builds take proportionally longer. Weather is the biggest variable. Kit-only orders ship within 2–4 weeks of deposit. Read the full timeline guide →
Do I need a building permit?▼
In most Manitoba and Saskatchewan municipalities, yes — you need a building permit for any structure over a certain size (usually 108 sqft). You'll need a site plan and stamped engineered drawings, which we provide with every kit. Permits are your responsibility, but we'll tell you exactly what you need. Budget 2–6 weeks for approval.
When should I start the process if I want to build this year?▼
As early as possible. Spring and summer book fast on the prairies. Getting your quote and deposit in by early spring gives you the best timeline options. Between permits, material ordering, and crew scheduling, lead times add up — starting in January or February for a summer build is ideal.
Service Area & Company
Where do you build?▼
We're based in Schanzenfeld, Manitoba. Full build and concrete services are available throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Northwestern Ontario. Kit-only packages ship anywhere in our service area.
Do you use subcontractors?▼
No. Our concrete crew and erection crew are our own employees. They work for us, not on a contract basis. That's the core of our business model — one company, one crew, accountable for the whole project from slab to ridge cap. Learn more about our company →
Are you licensed and insured?▼
Yes. We are fully licensed and insured for all the provinces we operate in.
